First Weekend Trip

Puerto Viejo

We arrived in Puerto Viejo later in the evening yesterday after a long drive from San Jose. Today, I woke up and went to a restaurant to eat breakfast with two other girls around 8 am. I ordered French toast, but got pancakes instead. I was not sure why because I ordered French toast very clearly in Spanish, but I was not very worried about it because I like pancakes too. After that, we met back with the group and walked over to the shop that lent us bikes for the day. I got a smaller bike than everyone else because I’m really short. We then proceeded to ride up the coast for a while. I was surprised by the nature surrounding me because it seemed surreal and a bit like I was living in a movie. We then stopped with everyone at a spot on the beach and spent a few hours there. Because I did not really know any other people on the trip yet, I decided to stick with my hotel roommate for this trip (who is also in two of my classes) and we ended up staying at the beach, taking pictures, eating lunch, and then returning to the hotel to shower. I really liked that we had the freedom to divide up into smaller groups and do whatever we wanted for the rest of the day. It wasn’t until I got back to the hotel that I realized I had the worst sunburn I have ever had in my life, even though I put sunblock on all day. As time went by, it just got worse and worse. I decided to stay in tonight because I was pretty tired from such a fun and exciting day.
