My First Day

San Jose, Costa Rica

My host mom took me and my house mate on a walk to Fídelitas, so that we know where it is on our walk to school tomorrow. She showed us around the area and gave us advice on lunch options. She also took us to the mall today to get sim cards. To get to the mall, we had to take the bus. It was really scary for me at first because I didn’t understand the currency or how to pay with it. The process was also very fast because it is a common way of transportation for the locals. Thankfully, my host mom was there to help me though. The mall was an interesting place. In some ways, it was similar to those at home but in some ways, not so much. I thought it was interesting that there are individual rooms surrounding all of the ATMs here for security. I was also glad that my host mom was there to help us with the sim cards because of the language barrier.
